Cardiology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study, diagnosis and treatment of acquired or congenital cardiovascular diseases.

The cardiologist also works in cardiovascular prevention and in the rehabilitation of patients who have undergone heart surgery.

The main diagnostic tests needed to complement cardiology consultations are the electrocardiogram (ECG), the echocardiogram and the Holter ECG.

Close collaboration with the centre’s other specialists gives patients the knowledge they need for better physical and mental wellbeing, in order to treat or prevent disease.

Cardiology check-up

The cardiology check-up is a complete screening of the heart and how it works, and is an excellent tool for preventing cardiovascular disease.

It consists of a series of tests which, together, build a complete picture of the patient’s heart health:

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery with 110/110 cum laude from the Università degli Studi di Trieste.

He is a specialist in Cardiology, Sports Medicine, and Legal and Insurance Medicine.

He was awarded numerous ENPAS scholarships from 1980 to 1984 for his outstanding university record and won the Bonmassar study prize in 1982 for his clinical and scientific work.

He has lectured at numerous national and international congresses and is the sole scientific director of the A.S.P.A.M. National Refresher Symposium.

He is the author of several publications and presentations at Italian and international conferences on cardiovascular diseases, Sports Medicine, metabolic disorders and Legal Medicine.

He is a member of several scientific societies and a founding member of the sports angiology study group of the Società Italiana di Patologia Vascolare.

He is a Court-Appointed Technical Consultant for the Tribunale di Udine and a trusted medical consultant for numerous insurance companies.

Formerly Regional President for Friuli Venezia Giulia of the Associazione Nazionale Cardiologi Extraospedalieri, he is currently Regional President and National Councillor of ASPAM (Associazione per la promozione dell’aggiornamento medico).

He chaired the civil disability committees of A.S.S. no. 5 and was vice-chair of the Provincial Commission of Gorizia of the Ministry of the Treasury for war pensions.

He is head of the Cardiology service at POLISMedica in Portogruaro.

He has been awarded the FEACVI title (Fellow of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging), one of the highest European recognitions in cardiovascular imaging, reserved for professionals who have distinguished themselves through high-level clinical, scientific and educational expertise.

After several years as a specialist in public hospitals in various regions of Italy, he came to Friuli Venezia Giulia to work in a complex cardiology unit.

He personally performs basic and advanced echocardiography, cardiac imaging and cardiological diagnostics.

He is an echocardiographer certified by the European Society of Cardiology and obtained EACVI/ESC accreditation in transthoracic echocardiography at Imperial College London, with training at Hammersmith Hospital under the supervision of Professor Petros Nihoyannopoulos.

He devotes part of his time to continuing education and research in cardiology.

First-level senior physician at the Cardiology Unit of the Ospedale di San Vito al Tagliamento from 1997 to 2011.

Within the Cardiology Service of the Ospedale di San Vito al Tagliamento and later in the Complex Cardiology Unit, in addition to regular clinical work, he mainly ran the Echocardiography Laboratory (transthoracic, transoesophageal, paediatric and fetal).

He works in private practice at the main healthcare facilities in the Provinces of Udine and Pordenone.
